Recently, the Annual Summing-up Meeting of “Agricultural Foreign Cooperation Science and Technology Support and Talent Training Base” (Jiangsu Consortium) led by FFRC was successfully held in the form of a combination of online and offline. Xu Pao, DG of FFRC, and Tian Yubin, First-level Consultant of the Foreign Exchange and Cooperation Division of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, attended the meeting and delivered speeches. Sixteen experts from Jiangsu Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Nanjing Agricultural University, Yangzhou University, Jiangsu Agri-animal Husbandry Vocational College, Suzhou Polytechnic Institute of Agriculture, Jiangsu Vocational College of Agriculture and Forestry and FFRC attended the meeting.
At the meeting, DG Xu Pao warmly welcomed the representatives of the consortium member units and thanked Jiangsu Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs for its support to the relevant work of FFRC. DG Xu Pao introduced the history of FFRC’s international cooperation over the past 40 years, especially under the framework of the national initiatives such as the Belt and Road, South-South cooperation, China-Africa Forum, Lancang-Mekong mechanism, BRICS cooperation, etc., relying on the platform of FAO Reference Center, China-Africa Joint Center, and agricultural foreign cooperation base and other platforms.
Afterwards, representatives of six member units reported on the effectiveness and experience of their units in 2022, and looked forward to the work vision in 2023. The representatives expressed the need to strengthen cooperation within the province, form complementary advantages, and jointly write a new chapter in Jiangsu’s agricultural foreign cooperation.
First-level Consultant Tian Yubin expressed high recognition of the achievements achieved by each unit in 2022, and put forward new requirements for the work of the consortium in 2023. He hoped that all member units can integrate the advantages of all parties in location, resources, industry, science and technology and other platforms, strengthen interconnection, make full use of various international cooperation platforms and give full play to the advantages of disciplines in universities, continue to enhance the role of the consortium, integrate foreign policy and leaders’ commitments into work practice with a high political stance, and play the role and style of home diplomacy.
During the period, First-level Consultant Tian Yubin inspected the scientific research, teaching and condition construction of FFRC. The Promotion and Education Center of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs conducted an exclusive interview with DG Xu Pao on the work of South-South cooperation, and filmed FFRC’s international cooperation achievements.
