On March 4, the project kick-off meeting and implementation plan meeting of the “14th Five-Year Plan” National Key R&D Program “Cultivation of large-scale stress-resistant Chinese Mitten Crab, Crayfish and Snail new varieties” was held in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province. The meeting was held in the form of “online + offline”, and Xiong Wei, Director of the Development Center of Science and Technology, MARA, and Han Gang, Deputy Director of the Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences, attended the meeting and presided over the implementation plan meeting. The kick-off meeting was presided over by Researcher Jian Zhu of FFRC.
At the launch of the project, the project team set up a management expert committee, and appointed Researcher Han Gang, Professor Li Jiale of Shanghai Ocean University, Researcher Kong Jie of the Yellow Sea Fisheries Research Institute, Professor Yang Guoliang of Huzhou Normal University, Professor Wang Chunlin of Ningbo University, and Researcher Ma Zhuojun of the Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences as the project management expert, and issued letters of appointment on the spot.
At the implementation plan meeting, Researcher Xu Pao, Chief expert of the project and Director General of FFRC, introduced the overall implementation plan of the project in detail. He pointed out that the project focuses on national strategies such as seed industry revitalization, green and low-carbon, and aims at industrial problems such as the lack of high-quality stress-resistant good seeds, low coverage of improved seeds, and imperfect seed industry system, through extensive collection and preservation of Chinese mitten crab, crayfish and snail germplasm resource groups, screening out excellent germplasm, cultivating their large-scale and stress-resistant new varieties, and supporting the construction of integrated development of “breeding, reproduction and extension” and green carbon sink culture model, so as to realize seed industry development and help the green and high-quality development of fisheries. Subsequently, the project leaders Professor Wang Chenghui, Researcher Xu Gangchun, Professor Gu Zemao, Researcher Peng Jinxia and General Manager Liu Xu reported the technical route and program goals of the implementation of specific project.
The experts of the committee commented on the program and the project plan one by one, fully affirmed the top-level design, technical route and management implementation plan of the project, and put forward relevant optimization opinions and suggestions. In his concluding remarks, Researcher Han Gang said that all parties should fully support and cooperate to ensure the smooth implementation of the program, and he emphasized that different projects should cooperate and work together to jointly contribute to the program to cultivate talents and achieve good results.
It is reported that the program brings together the superior scientific and technological strength of 10 scientific research institutions and enterprises, including Shanghai Ocean University, Freshwater Fisheries Research Center, Huazhong Agricultural University, Fishery Science Research Institute of Guangxi Autonomous Region, Institute of Hydrobiology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Jiangsu Freshwater Fisheries Research Institute, Nanjing Agricultural University, Hunan Normal University, Shandong Agricultural University and Panjin Guanghe Crab Industry Co., Ltd., more than 50 relevant members of the program were invited to participate in the kick-off meeting.
