On June 1, Vice President HAN Gang of the Chinese Academy of Fishery Science visited FFRC for Scientific Research and investigation on the Construction of modern scientific institutions. More than 30 faculty of FFRC attended the investigation, including members of the leadership of FFRC, division chiefs of different department, chief scientists of the innovation team of the CAFS and young scientific personnel.
The investigation focused on scientific and technological innovation and the construction of the institute. In order to know the scientific research progress in FFRC and the development needs of the front-line scientific personnel, the investigation team conducted thematic investigation with the chief scientists, post experts and young scientific representatives of FFRC.
Subsequently, the investigation team held a meeting with the leadership of FFRC and division chiefs for comprehensive understanding of the construction of FFRC. Director XU Pao of FFRC made a report to the investigation team about the specific work, achievements and difficulties in constructing FFRC a modern institute. He said that FFRC would find the right development direction, take the “14th Five-Year Plan” of the CAFS as the guidance, strengthen the construction of a modern institute, and promote the overall work for a better development.
Vice President HAN Gang emphasized that the construction of a modern institute should pay more attention on talent cultivation, management systems and environmental construction. In addition, he pointed out that FFRC should firstly continue to focus on its main responsibilities, the whole industrial chain, key varieties cultivation, major achievements output and important award declaration; secondly, make concerted efforts to apply for national key projects, fully mobilizing young scientists’ enthusiasm for research and encouraging them to apply for the National Natural Fund; thirdly, form a virtuous cycle of scientific and technological innovation by synthetically using the existing platforms.
Prof. GE Xianping, Secretary of the Party Committee of FFRC, said that in the new era, FFRC is confident and energetic to continue to make efforts in the declaration of the national key projects and awards, the construction of national platforms and high-level talents cultivation, etc. He hoped that the leadership of the CAFS could show more trust, support and assistance to FFRC.
