From November 28th to 30th, the 11th National Congress and Academic Exchange Conference of the Genetics Society of China was held in Wuhan, Hubei. Academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Gui Jianfang, He Lin, Li Jiayang, Meng Anming, Shen Yan, Yang Huanming, Zhang Qiqi, Zhang Xue, Secretary of the Party Committee Xing Xuerong, Deputy Director Huang Xun of the Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Deputy Director Wu Jun of Hubei Provincial Department of Science and Technology, and Vice President Gong Wei of Wuhan University, attended the opening ceremony. Researcher Dong Zaijie of FFRC attended the conference as a member representative of Jiangsu Genetics Society.
The theme of this year’s conference is “Genetics: Decoding Life, Empowering Economy, Leading the Future”, and the content of the conference involves human and medical genetics, plant genetics, animal genetics, microbial genetics and other fields. The conference is the largest and highest level academic event in the field of genetics in China, which aims to discuss the latest research progress, development trends and difficult hot issues in genetics and related fields, to build a cutting-edge and interdisciplinary academic conference system, to promote the exchange and cooperation of genetics researchers, and to push forward the development of genetic discipline in China.
More than 1,800 participants from 32 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities across the country attended the conference, and 218 abstracts and 78 posters in related fields were received. Dr. Dong Yalun of FFRC presented the abstract of the paper “Mitochondrial genome fragmentation occurred multiple times independently in bird lice of the families menoponidae and laemobothriidae”, and Gong Yating, a doctoral student of Wuxi Fishery University, presented “Transcriptome and proteome analysis of the muscles of Oujiang color common carp and Furui carp No. 2 from rice-fish culture”.
The conference approved the relevant work report and financial report, the constitution and membership fee standards of the 10th Council of the Genetics Society of China, and elected 147 directors and 7 supervisors of the 11th session by secret ballot.
