On January 11-12, the 2023 Annual Summary Meeting of the National Conventional Freshwater Fish Industry Technology System was held in Wuhan, Hubei. The meeting was presided over by Ge Xianping, Chief Scientist of the system, more than 130 people attended the meeting, including chief experts of local innovation teams in Hunan, Sichuan, Shanxi, Henan, Hebei, Beijing and Tianjin, all the posy scientists of the system, directors of the test stations and key members of the team.
At the meeting, Yao Jianglin, Vice President of Huazhong Agricultural University, extended a warm welcome to the leaders and experts attending the meeting, and expressed his heartfelt thanks to the system for the support and help given to the development of aquatic industry in Huazhong Agricultural University. Ke Zunyong, Deputy Director of Hubei Provincial Agricultural Development Center, said in his speech that Hubei Provincial Agricultural Development Center will fully support the work of the system, vigorously promote the transformation and demonstration of new technologies and new models of bulk freshwater fish, and actively build a bridge between scientific research institutes, universities and market entities. Li Qing, chief engineer of the National Aquatic Technology Promotion Station, affirmed the contribution made by the system in empowering scientific and technological innovation and helping industrial revitalization, and expressed heartfelt congratulations to the system on the major breakthroughs made in major key technology research, supporting industrial quality and efficiency improvement, and cooperating with enterprises.
Han Gang, Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences, said that 2023 is the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the system, and he briefly reviewed the development of the system. He hoped that the system can continue to support the development of science and technology, focus on highlighting the industrial orientation, and focus on the research on new technologies, new models, new equipment, new products and other application technologies.
The meeting awarded licenses to 23 technology integration core demonstration sites of the system.
Vice President Han Gang presided over the evaluation of the Chief Scientist of the system. Chief Scientist Ge Xianping reported on the completion of the system’s work in 2023 from eight aspects, including joint research on major key technical issues, research and demonstration of key technologies for green and efficient processing, and presided over the work summary and evaluation of the directors of various functional research offices, post scientists and integreted test stations in 2023.
In his concluding remarks, Chief Scientist Ge Xianping said that the post scientists, the integrated test stations and their teams have made fruitful achievements in tackling major technical problems in the breeding, processing and open water ecological fishery industries, providing service to the economic development of the county, helping the industry to improve quality and efficiency, and ensuring the effective supply of aquatic products, and have made important contributions to supporting the development of the conventional freshwater fish industry.
After the summary meeting, the system held the first executive expert group meeting in the year of 2024, reviewed the evaluation results of the system appointees in 2023, discussed the system’s management work plan for 2024, and conducted an in-depth study of the key tasks of the system in 2024.
