    FFRC Successfully Completed Two Foreign Aid Training Projects Sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce

    On August 21, the “Training Course on Land-based Aquaculture for Maritime Silk Road Countries” and “Seminar on Regulation and Law-enforcement of Fishery Activities for Maritime Silk Road Countries” sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce, organized by FFRC successfully completed.

    Deputy Director General Xu Sheng said that the two training programs have deepened the important cooperative relationship between China and countries along the Maritime Silk Road in exchanging experience in fishery development, shared Chinas successful experience in fishery supervision and law enforcement, land-based aquaculture and other aspects, and expanded the new space for win-win cooperation among the Maritime Silk Road countries. He hoped that the participants will take these training programs as a new opportunity to deepen fishery cooperation among the Maritime Silk Road countries, learn from each other, join hands to draw a new blueprint for the development of fisheries along the Maritime Silk Road, and contribute to the high-quality and sustainable development of the worlds fisheries.

    Mr THABISO COSMOS MARATSANE, Assistant Director of the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and Environment of South Africa, and Mr DESMOND CHINEDU NWANGWU, Principal Researcher of the National Research Institute of  Freshwater Fisheries of Nigeria, delivered speeches as representatives of the participants in the two training programs.

    Deputy Director General Xu Sheng presented certificates to all the participants, and representatives of the participants from Thailand, Nigeria and Tanzania also sent special souvenirs to FFRC.

    The Seminar on Regulation and Law-enforcement of Fishery Activities for Maritime Silk Road Countries lasts for 14 days. 26 fishery regulation and enforcement officials from eight countries, including Tanzania, South Africa, Sierra Leone, Myanmar, Samoa, Thailand, Maldives and Cuba. This seminar arranged a series of lectures, discussions and exchanges on topics such as Chinas experience in fishery management and information-based fishery regulation, and organized practical visits to Beijing and Lianyungang.

    The Training Course on Land-based Aquaculture for Maritime Silk Road Countries lasts for 21 days. 25 technical officials from seven countries, including Solomon Islands, Cuba, Thailand, Nigeria, Tanzania, Sierra Leone and Afghanistan, attended this training course. FFRC demonstrated Chinas advanced technology and successful experience in the field of land-based aquaculture, arranged a series of lectures, professional practice and exchanges, and organized participants to go to Guangxi to carry out practical teaching.
