Since the outbreak of COVID-19 epidemic, multi-measures have been taken by FFRC to contribute to fishery production stabilization and fish supply sufficiency, following the spirit of President Jinpin’s speech at the conference on coordinately advancing the prevention and control of the new coronavirus pneumonia epidemic and economic and social development, as well as the relevant work deployment from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences.
These measure include but not limit to:
Actively create favorable conditions for promoting the implementation of key special projects. Examples are, the Dapu Research Base of FFRC getting fully prepared for brooder shrimp demand once production resumed, through scientific management and technical input into disease prevention, water quality control, real-time monitoring, etc., and FFRC river crab research team visited Yangcheng Lake experiment base for investigation into the epidemic prevention and control, seed production, and breeding situations.
Unswervingly put efforts to alleviate difficulties and ensure the supply of aquatic seeds. Efforts were made to provide online consultation and technical guidance to farmers through different applications. phone calls, as well as communication tools such as wechat and QQ, to instruct and ensure the seed production and other input materials production.
Two technical systems come into play full with accurate measures to support the industry. As the research and development center for the national conventional freshwater fishes industry system and that of the national high-value freshwater fishes, FFRC is fully geared to carry out related survey and come out with reports on impacts of the epidemic on freshwater fisheries, promote the smooth marketing of fish products, and provide online lectures and guidelines for different regions.
The center will keep implementing governmental strategies, to strengthen guidance on aquaculture production and technical services, carry out researches and works on preventing and controlling aquatic animal epidemics, and contribute to the smooth and successful production and operation of the freshwater fishery industry.
