Recently, Yangzhong Scientific Research and Experiment Base of Freshwater Fisheries Research Center of Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences was selected as "National Agricultural Science and Technology Demonstration Base" by Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.
Located in Yangzhong city, Jiangsu Province, Yangzhong Base was founded in 2016, with a total area of 375.56 mu, it has 110 mu of standardized pond, 3000 m2integrated aquaculture workshop, 1980 m2 of circulating water tank, 3000 m2 of comprehensive office building, 1 probiotics EM bacteria fermentation workstation and related supporting facilities. Yangzhong Base focuses on good aquatic germplasm resources excavation and preservation, integrated farming, circulating water aquaculture and efficient ecological farming model construction of river crab (Eriocheir sinensis), disease prevention and control. Especially in the research of middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze river characteristic economic fishery species, in the on-site demonstration of teaching and training for people from “B&R” countries, Yangzhong Base has its unique advantages.
The successful selection of Yangzhong Base into the National Modern Agricultural S&T Demonstration Base is of great significance for FFRC to further implement the innovation-driven development strategy and rural revitalization strategy, support the fishery modernization construction with science and technology, promote the fishery transformation and upgrading, and promote the high-quality fishery development. In the next step, FFRC will build Yangzhong Base into a pilot area for the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, a demonstration window for high-quality species and green breeding technologies, and build it into a high-quality carrier and platform for green fishery promotion services, farmers and new agricultural operators to observe and learn.
