    Researcher Bo Liu's team has made new progress in the field of microbial research on the early life of Macrobrachium rosenbergii

    Recently, the conventional freshwater aquaculture animal nutrition and feed innovation team of FFRC, and the National Shrimp and Crab Industry Technology System Freshwater Shrimp Nutrition and Feed Post reported for the first time the microbial changes and colonization rules in the early life of Macrobrachium rosenbergii, and systematically explained the influence of maternal and environmental microbes on offspring microbes during the breeding period of Macrobrachium rosenbergii. The research results are titled “Maternal and environmental microbes dominate offspring microbial colonization in the giant freshwater prawn Macrobrachium rosenbergii", published in “Science of the Total Environment” (impact factor 7.963), with Liu Bo, a 2020 PhD student, and Dr. Song Changyou, Dept. of Bio-Technology of FFRC, as co-first author of the paper, and Researcher Liu Bo as the corresponding author.

    The study found that the microbes at the embryonic development stage were mainly affected by the parental hepatopancreas, while the larval stage was mainly affected by the microbes in the cultured water body; the results indicated that the maternal nutrition fortification and the regulation of the hepatopancreas microflora were strengthened before breeding. Strengthening the regulation of water microbes will help promote the growth and health of the offspring of Macrobrachium rosenbergii. The research results provide important theoretical support for the breeding of Macrobrachium rosenbergii, and have important academic and application promotion values.
